The Tunamaya Beach Bar acts as a focal point of the resort due to its centralized location between the resort and the sea, drawing inspiration from the geographic bay along the coast, where sea waves and breezes collide with the land, signifying a space which is energetic and rich with activities.
The beach club adopted a centralized layout arranged on a radial grid system, with an amphitheater pond acting as a central point. The pond act as a stage when the water is drained away as needed, providing a platform for bands and performers to showcase their talents. Generous full height openings lining the façade of the bar frame he panoramic view of the majestic sea and allows uninterrupted natural cross ventilation, achieved by detaching the structures away from the façade, forming a veranda space. The exposed structures were not only inspired by the coastal vegetation, but also act as support for lovers to provide shading from the sun. In terms of sustainability, the roof is designed to facilitate rainwater harvesting as well as placement of photovoltaic cells.
The result is a contemporary beach bar utilizing the site contexts to its full potential and seeking to provide a leisure gathering space for the resort’s patrons.
